Letter to the Parish & Search Outline
The process for calling a new rector must be carried out prayerfully and with great care. It will require a commitment of time, energy and resources. It is the Search Committee who is entrusted with the holy work of finding their congregation’s next pastor, priest, and teacher.
The Search Committee will :
Interview Candidates
Review written materials
Zoom interviews
In-Person Interviews
Vestry meets candidates but does not interview
Discern Finalist
Recommend ONE name to the VestryThe appointment of a Search Committee frees up the Vestry to focus on leading the church through the transition.
The Search Committee will maintain frequent and clear communications with the parish as deemed appropriate. Keep in mind, the Committee must maintain strict confidence about the names of candidates. Updates will be posted here, as well as through all-parish emails.

Our Search Committee
The search committee is charged to identify candidates for the position of the next rector here at St. Philips. It is the responsibility of the search committee to clarify the job description and identify the qualifications that are needed for the job. The search committee advertises the position; to review applications, supporting documents, and references; interview applicants; and recommend one or more “finalists” to the bishop and vestry.
