St. Philip’s Youth & Sunday School

Sunday School ~ February 18, 2018

Godly Play will continue looking at the Communion of the Saints and learning about St. Patrick.

Celebrate the Good News! is learning about the model for a life of committed ministry that Jesus created: taking time to pray and worship renewing himself for his ministry of teaching and healing.

Godly Play Training

The Episcopal Diocese of Oklahoma is offering Godly Play training. The training days will take place at Emmanuel, Shawnee, and run from 8:30am until 5:30pm. One day of training a month will be offered in March, April, and May of this year to any interested Diocesan  member. If you attend all three days you will be fully certified in Godly Play. However, you can choose to attend just one day to learn about the Godly Play teaching method. If you are already a certified Godly Play instructor you are welcome to attend all or some of the days to hone your skills and learn about some of the new and  revised lessons.

There is no cost to attend any of the training sessions and lunch will be  provided. The dates for Godly Play training are: March 10; April 14; and, May 12.

St. Philip's has been using the Godly Play curriculum for children 3 years of age through Grade 1. If you are interested in being a Sunday School teacher, this would be a great introduction to one of the curricula we use!

If you are interested in signing up for one or all of these training sessions please contact, Amanda Jackson-Willy, 580 504 7779.

St. Philip’s Youth — “SPY"

All youth from 8th through 12th Grade meet with Fr. Mike to discuss questions of faith, spirituality, and how scripture fits in their lives and informs their lives. S.P.Y. is safe space for the youth to discus their spiritual journey. S.P.Y. also studies the Basics of Confirmation, including church history, liturgy, Bible study, and diocesan projects.

Volunteering at Sunday Supper, the Ardmore Soup Kitchen, wrapping gifts for the Foster Children’s Gift Program, and an annual spiritual retreat are areas of outreach and mission in which S.P.Y. participates.

Fellowship and team-building events include sponsoring the Parish Pumpkin Carving in October, bowling, trivia night, rock climbing, and more.

S.P.Y. members are encouraged to invite their classmates and neighbors to join them for the Sunday meetings with Fr. Mike as well as to the team-building events held throughout the year.
